I have been a personal trainer/coach for 15 years now, and I've loved all sports from a young age. Growing up, I was football mad and always thought I'd be a professional footballer as I was pretty good. I discovered triathlon by accident. The Bath triathlon happened to be on television one day, and I thought it looked like an interesting challenge. I was 19 and decided to give it a go - just the small task of teaching myself to swim first! My first triathlon was the 1993 Brecon Triathlon. I completed the 800m swim incorporating a few stops and a few lengths of breaststroke, but managed to finish 15th overall. I was now a triathlete. My dedication to training and improving over the years saw me win titles including Gold at the European Championships, Bronze at the Duathlon World Championships, and overall winner of many British races including the Outlaw Half. Most of my sporting success has come from rowing however. I discovered rowing whilst training on the indoor rower as a form of cross training, and realised I was quite good. So I entered the British indoor rowing championships and won gold at the age of 28. I then went on to win Welsh championships, and World titles. I naturally progressed to row on water, I won numerous British Titles and a couple of Commonwealth Regatta Bronze medals. A back injury unfortunately cut my rowing career short, and I fell back into multisport. Now I enjoy competing in a range of endurance sports including marathons, duathlons, triathlons and cycling races.

I have always been interested in sport but my real passion began when I took up running after having my first child to get back to fitness and lose weight. Somewhere along the line I discovered Triathlon and my world changed for good. I learnt to swim and completed my first Tri a tri and was completely hooked. I then moved up to Olympic then Half Ironman to full Ironman distance. I have since raced for Great Britain at the ITU World and ETU European Long Distance Championships as an age grouper and even managed a podium. Since sport was fast becoming my life I decided to undertake my various sporting qualifications in order to help others achieve the dreams I had when I took my first steps. Since this time I have coached at various levels from newbie to seasoned athlete.

A keen runner for 40 years and more recently a duathlete and cycling time trialist I have always been involved with running and keeping fit. 2016 will see me putting some serious effort in to improving my time trialling to a good level whilst still partaking in a few running and duathlon events. I'm an active member of San Domenico RC and have the honour of being the club chairman.

I have focused my attention on organising races that provide high quality and value for money as demanded by the sporting community. I always strive to offer races that appeal to both the experienced club runner and the novice runner who could be progressing on from events such as parkrun 5K’s. My organising experience combined with my colleagues race experience will ensure that we achieve our aims to become the best provider of sporting events in South Wales, covering running, time trialling, aquathlon, duathlon and triathlon events.

I started running marathons as a fun runner when I was a student in 2000. My love for competing and challenging myself saw me progress gradually over the years to become a well rounded endurance athlete. My proudest moment was finally running under 3 hours at London Marathon 2012, where I was awarded Welsh Marathon Champion. I'm also the proud winner of the Run Wales Series titles in both 2012 and 2014. I have dabbled in triathlon over the years, my biggest achievement was coming 6th in the Outlaw half in 2013, which incorporated my first open water swim - of which I was terrified! I have also taken part in cycling time trials locally. I qualified as a personal trainer in 2012, and I am absolutely dedicated to inspiring others to take up sport and running to improve their well being. I believe that setting goals such as entering races and events is key to stay focused and motivated.
