Cottrell Park boasts two magnificent golf courses, set in historic parkland that has been landscaped over several centuries. The gently rolling parkland with stately trees, many hundreds of years old, combine to create a special charm that is Cottrell Park. More information on the Golf Resort can be found on their website www.cottrellpark.com
THE RACE HQ
The Race HQ will be located in the conservatory of the clubhouse, this will be sign posted from the car park. There are several toilet blocks located throughout the buildings (a good tip is not to go to the nearest ones as they might have a queue).
Post-race there are showers, changing and bar/food facilities in the clubhouse.
When using any of the clubhouse areas and facilities please be respectful of the facilities and do not wear muddy trainers through the buildings. Worth taking a spare pair of trainers for post-race use to get to the showers etc...
The golf club and both it's courses will be open on event day, where it has been deemed that runners or golfers could be in danger from each other we have taken measures to limit these risks. The run route has been designed bearing in mind the flow and direction of the golf courses as well as ensuring it has what a runner wants.
However please ensure you are always alert to what is taking place around you and don't forget to say 'Good Morning' or 'Swap you' to our fellow outdoor enthusiasts, the golfers.
It's a 10AM mass start for the keen athletes. The runners will return to the start / finish area after completing a loop to the West of the clubhouse, the runners will continue on the second loop to the North and East. A picturesque undulating multi-terrain course with approximately 450 feet of climb and one challenging hill with a Strava segment (Bunker Hill) setup for an inter-participant hill challenge. It's a course that will appeal to both the experienced club runner and the novice runner who could be progressing on from events such as parkrun 5K's.
The course showcases the two magnificent championship designed golf courses, the historic parkland and the extensive views to the South over the Bristol Channel and to the North the imposing vista towards the Brecon Beacons.
Run under Welsh Athletics rules - race permit applied for.
Due to the nature of the terrain the race distance is approximate.
